Behold... to serve is to live.

I woke up this morning and stumbled across a quote that truly wraps me up in a huge jumble of feelings and sentiments. I feel that it encompasses my view on life. I can't explain how I feel right now. It's like I have been working a crossword puzzle for 25 years trying to figure out the answer and then someone drops the next days paper on your lap and the answer is right there.
"I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I woke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy."
-Rabindranath Tagore
Those words pretty much sum up how I feel about life. My NEED to serve, to love, to be in meaningful interaction with others, because in that time, that is where I find my Savior. That is where I find my Joy. Stir my heart O Lord, and do not let my dreams die. Align my life with your will and all my dreams with your dreams, there is my joy.
To Serve is to Love is to Live.

great weekend

Another great weekend at the D & B. Noons, Andy, Mark and I headed down there Friday night and hung out for a while. Got up early Saturday morning and went hunting. I had a little spike walk through but that was it. Noons dad saw 3 doe cross a field but they were to far to get a shot. After a long day of working and fishing and just hanging out, Mark had to leave and the rest of us all went back out. Just before dark I had a doe walk up towards the feeder by the stand I was at. I was able to get a shot on her, but was worried that I had shot low. I went down and saw my arrow covered in blood. I went and got noons and the guys and we started tracking. about 5 minutes and 100 yards later we found her. The shot started in the shoulder but because of the angle, passed right through the lungs, making for a quick clean kill. I was really happy about that... I don't want them to suffer. We took her back and cleaned her and had a great time... all 3 of us passing out by 10:30. We couldn't of asked for a better weather. Everything just fell into place. Thank you God for your wilderness and your creation. Thank you for the thrill of the hunt and the joy of the kill.

Prestidigitation.

Prestidigitation. I know most of you are saying to yourself... hey! isn't that the dumb word from Akeelah and the Bee?!? why yes. it is in fact that dumb word, but what is the definition I ask you. Well for answers to this and many other words definitions I present you an opportunity. It's called FREE RICE. What it is, is a game where you have to answer what the definition of words are. For every word you get the correct definition of, the website will donate 10 grains of rice to the poor and hungry. I spent about 15 minutes yesterday and a few minutes this morning on the game and have donated over 1300 grains of rice... and that included the time i was flipping to my email so my bosses wouldn't see I was playing around. So the point is, just by learning new words to use, so you can sound like the almighty wordsmith aka hunter slaton... you can also feed the hungry. I think this is brilliant and wonderful and boffo. and by the way, Prestidigitation means slight of hand.

I have been married a year.

I have been married a year today. It has been amazing. I am so thankful for the wonderful bride that the Lord has given me, and am very excited about the future He has in store for us. I cant believe how lucky I am to be in the place that I am at. I am reminded of the proverb "To he, much is given, much is required." I guess God requires more than I am giving because he sure has given me more than I deserve! I'll probably end up in Africa or something... I hope.

Click for food, Click for animals

In my links section I have added two links, I had seen these a while back and clicked them faithfully for a while but soon forgot. I have now added them to my favorites bar on my computer as I hope all my readers will two. The links do exactly what they say... for each time you click them, once per day the sponsers of the site will donate money to feed either humans or animals... now while i think that the humans are more important, Michael Vick just got rid of a bunch of dogs that I am sure are very hungry from being starved and beaten and they need food too. Please Please click on the links, it takes 5 seconds each and makes you feel good inside. you will notice on the site that there are other links also, click away!

We are Having a PARTY!!
In the words of biggie smalls (he was black so he could say what I am quoting him saying)... "IF YOU DONT KNOW, NOW YOU KNOW. NIGGA!"We are having a party. The 28th of July at Murray Park Pavilion 5! Two O'Clock.
What is this party you might ask...
It's a Tom's Shoes Style Your Sole House Party.
What is that you might ask...
Everyone who comes agrees to buy one pair of white Tom's Shoes ahead of time, to be delivered to my house. We will all get together and paint and decorate our shoes in whatever fashion that we want to do. The awesome part of this will be that, at the same time we are having our party there will be 999 other parties going on nationwide with people doing the same thing. And the even more awesome part is that with every pair of shoes bought, a needy child in Africa will receive a pair during the Toms Shoe drop this December. There are no silly gimmicks, just a straight up 1 to 1 match on every pair of shoes bought. I already have a pair of Tom's and I love them!!
If anyone is interested in attending the party either email me or comment to this blog with name and email so that I can send an invite. All shoes bought for the party will receive a 10% discount. So for $35 you can get a new pair of shoes, and give a pair to a child in need! Can it get much better?
Well I hope that everyone else gets as excited as I am about this whole thing. All guests need to register by the 1st of July!!
So in closing lets all get together and buy some shoes, drink some booze, and let kids in Africa know a little bit of the love of Jesus through what this company is doing!!

I laughed my ass off at them, and now I am minus one ass, which can make sitting quit uncomfortable. Ass or no ass, you will love these comics or you are not my friend. to view click on the word Fun-Bot.

Bud and me.

The preceding picture was drawn by a very dear friend of mine during one of the weirdest times of my life. The picture depicts me sitting in a restaurant called "el mono loco" or in english... "the crazy monkey." This particular restaurant is in Antigua, Guatemala. The significance of this moment was that we were in fact living at the same orphanage at the time, and one of the rules of the orphanage was "no drinking." Well this rule was all fine and dandy except for the fact that I am a man who enjoys a good beer or 3. Aaron and I got a night off together and were able to head down to Antigua for the evening. We sat at the table across from each other and order a round of cold ones. It was at that moment I took a good swill off of my icy cold Bud and declared... "Oh, how I've missed you!"
